2 Greetings Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Music Institute at Howard Community College, where our motto is Music for a Lifetime. For new or returning students, it is our goal to provide you with a high quality musical experience whether you are looking for a class, an ensemble or private lessons. Our award winning faculty as well as our staff members are happy to assist you in any way we can. Our goal is to provide you a friendly, stimulating, and engaging classroom setting for all of your musical activities. The Institute continues its mission to serve the Greater Columbia Community. We are continuing our efforts to expand our fall, spring, and summer class offerings. TMI is please that Dr. Myers continues his new class, Tai-Chi Quan for Musicians, first offered in the spring of 2018. This summer we ran two very successful weekly summer enrichment programs, Flute-a-rama and Drummin' Dragons for school aged children. Our multi-week programs, Gemini Piano Trio Chamber Workshop and the Little Patuxent Opera Institute remain very successful with LPOI's Friday performance of Donizetti's Elixir of Love recorded and broadcast by HCC's Dragon Digital Media TV Studio. For more up to date information on happenings within the Institute and Music Department, be sure to visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TMIatHCC/. For archival footage of recent and older TMI performances, visit our TMI Youtube page with channels for Gemini Piano Trio, Little Patuxent Opera Institute, and Music Institute Recital Series. You can find our YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/user/ TheMusicInstituteHCC. We are very lucky to be a part of the National Association of Schools of Music's accredited Howard Community College Music Department, sharing both its faculty and facility. We are equally as lucky to continue our partnership with the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center whose staff always happily supports us. TMI continues to work with our partners to expand our presence within and outside of the college community. Many of us have happily taken our mission to learn and perform music into a more administrative role to help you, our supporters, find a productive pathway to attain your musical objectives. We look forward to working with our students to create new learning opportunities. Feel free to share your ideas with us! Warmest Regards - James Bailey – Program Manager
