If you are interested in becoming an HVACR professional or are currently employed by a licensed HVACR company, you can now train to become a licensed journeyman through our new partnership with the Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors of Maryland (HACC of MD), who has trained hundreds of HVACR technicians to work in the industry since 1996. is apprenticeship program will train you to be an HVACR apprentice specializing in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning/refrigeration systems. Work may include installing, servicing and re - pairing heating and air conditioning systems in residences and commercial establishments. Apprenticeships usually begin by assisting experienced technicians with such tasks as carrying materials, insulat- ing refrigerant lines or cleaning furnaces. In time, you will move on to more difficult tasks such as cutting and solder- ing pipes and checking electrical and electronic circuits. e program takes four years to complete and includes a classroom portion along with 8,000 hours of on-the job training. Upon completion of the program, you will be eligible to receive your journeyman license from the State of Maryland without taking the exam. e HACC of MD has worked with hundreds of HVACR employers in Maryland to train quality employees. If you are employed by an HVACR company, your employer may help offset the costs for this program through a sponsorship. If you are currently not employed by an HVACR company, you can register and start the program and you will need to find full-time employment with an HVACR contractor by the start of your second year of classroom training.
