Step By Step
Enrollment Guide
1. Complete an admissions application.

y y First-time students pay a $25 application fee. (is fee is waived
for Dual Enrollment, Freshman Focus, and students from the U.S.
military community. See page 12 for more information.)
y y Returning students who have been away for two or more years
need to complete a new application; the fee is waived.
2. Take your placement test, if needed, and meet with an
academic advisor to develop your academic plan.
y y What do you need to take a placement test? Find placement
testing information at howardcc.edu/testcenter. HCC provides
several placement test exceptions including high school GPA,
certain grades in certain high school courses, PARCC test scores
and various standardized test scores. Please provide an official
high school transcript, an official college transcript if applicable
and test scores to the Office of Admissions and Advising to verify
your placement exceptions.
y y Once you've taken your placement test, consult the
Admissions and Advising walk-in advising schedule to plan
your visit: howardcc.edu/advising.
3. Register for classes using myHCC (myHCC.howardcc.edu).
y y Know your dates and deadlines; visit "View My Tuition
Refund & Withdrawal Deadlines" in myHCC.
y y Learn how to register online on page 4 or by visiting
howardcc.edu/register.
y y Need help? Email register@howardcc.edu or visit the Office of
Records, Registration & Veterans' Affairs (RCF-233).
4. Choose your payment arrangements.

y y Use myHCC to pay in full with a credit card, or visit the
Cashier's Office (RCF 200A) to pay in full with cash, check,
credit card, or money order.
y y Sign up for the Tuition Payment Plan in myHCC.
Visit howardcc.edu/paymentplan for more information.
y y To apply for financial aid, go to howardcc.edu/financialaid
and select Apply For Financial Aid. Aer you have completed
your 2019-2020 FAFSA, check myHCC and your HCC email
regularly for updates regarding the status of your application.
y y Visit howardcc.edu/financialaid for more information about
scholarships, grants, and loans.
5. Use these tools for success.

HCC offers a wide variety of student services including academic
and disability support, counseling and career services, and a
learning assistance center that provides academic support to all
credit students enrolled at HCC.
y y Attend New Student Orientation! Sign up at howardcc.edu/nso.
y y Buy your books! Visit howardcc.edu/bookstore.
y y Get carded! Get your student ID at Public Safety (RCF-117) to
use the Athletics and Fitness Center, enter and use computer
labs, and check out library materials.

Students who enroll in 30 credits per year are more
likely to finish a degree and be successful. Enroll this
summer to complete 30 credits in a year!
