When I started the pro- gram at the English Lan- guage Center at Howard Community College, I was shy because I felt I could only speak a little English. I was scared to talk to people and worried how I would do in classes. All of my professors have been so welcoming and helpful. I can tell they take a lot of pride in their jobs. rough my courses at HCC I have become much more skilled in reading, writing, and speaking Eng- lish. I feel confident in my ability to hold con- versations with people at length. e teaching methods they use here have helped me make a lot of progress in a short amount of time. I really appreciate how much they have helped me to improve. Reyshel Gumban Student from the Philippines
