Do you dream about taking to the skies and soaring above the clouds? Every day, around the world, amateur pilots test their skills with their own homemade or off-the-shelf aircra. Not only do they have to know all about how to build a drone, they must know how it works and how to fly it in a safe, responsible manner. In this class, we will take you from knowing nothing about drones, to building one of your own and taking it home! As being a pilot is a great responsibility, you will learn about the rules and regulations surrounding the operation of unmanned aircra. Before joining HCC, Craig worked as a science communicator at Glasgow Science Centre for many years, developing and delivering their education program. He is passionate about STEM education, particularly in encouraging K-12 students to pursue a STEM career. He also worked for GE Aviation, where he volunteered as a STEM ambassador for the University of Glasgow. In addition, he developed robotics workshops for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). More recently, he worked as a doctoral researcher at the University of Glasgow, studying the performance of drones flying around cities in turbulent conditions. He holds a master's degree in aero-mechanical engineering from the University of Strathclyde and is currently finishing his doctorate degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Glasgow.
