MUSIC THE HOWARD COMMUNITY COLLEGE CONCERT SERIES takes on a multifaceted exploration of blood through musical expression. The many associations of blood will manifest themselves in programs inspired by family bloodlines, musical family trees, blood of different nations and ethnicities, love, times of destruction, and more. Traditional Bloodlines – Early American Banjo: African, Celtic, European Ancestry of America's Iconic Musical Instrument Sunday, November 9, 4:00 pm Jared Denhard, Banjos / Richard McCready, Bones, Tambourine, Djembe, Vocals / Cathleen Jeffcoat, Violin, Fiddle Monteabaro Recital Hall Music for early 19 th century through late Victorian era performed on gourd banjo, tackhead antebellum banjo, and fretted Victorian banjo. Living Blood – New Works for Flute Saturday, November 15, 7:30 pm Melissa Lindon, Flute / Melissa Wertheimer, Flute Wei-Der Huang, Piano Monteabaro Recital Hall HCC's flute faculty, Melissa Lindon and Melissa Wertheimer, team up with piano faculty member, Wei-Der Huang, in dynamic pieces by live and kicking composers, including Amlin, Dorff, Clarke, Uebayashi, and more.
