POLICIES 83 ability to limit the effects or prevent recurrence of alleged sexual misconduct. Any alleged violation of this sexual misconduct policy will be adjudicated under the procedures outlined by the Howard Community College student code of conduct in the case of an alleged violation by a student enrolled at Howard Community College and by procedures otherwise applicable to adjudication of employee and third party alleged misconduct. The procedures, participants, sanctions and appellate process all apply to these proceedings related to alleged violations of this policy. Mediation is never appropriate in sexual assault cases and will not be used at the college. If there is a determination that sexual misconduct has occurred, prompt and effective steps to eliminate the sexual misconduct, prevent its recurrence, and address its effects will be taken. Prompt generally means within 60 calendar days from the time a report is brought to the college's attention until an initial decision is rendered. Additional information on the college's sexual misconduct policy and procedures can be found in the catalog or online at www.howardcc.edu.
