Access to eLearning courses is provided via HCC's learning management system Canvas beginning the first day of a semester and may be completed using any computer connected to the Internet. Participation in eLearning courses requires basic understanding of web browsing. For a complete list of technical requirements visit HCC's eLearning website listed above. Lastly, depending on your eLearning course selection you may be required to take proctored exams. These exams can be taken onsite at the HCC Test Center, at an approved alternative location or via a virtual proctoring service. Students may access their ONLINE COURSES In an online course, 100% of instruction, learning activities, and interactions between faculty and students takes place virtually within Canvas. These courses may be completed at any location providing computer and Internet access. HYBRID COURSES A hybrid course is conducted using a combination of campus-based and online instruction. Because a percentage of course interactions are conducted virtually the amount of face-to-face class meeting time is a fraction of the full campus-based version of the course. FAST TRACK Fast Track courses concentrate the coursework of a traditional 14-week semester into a shorter period of time: 7, 6, m5, 4, or fewer weeks. Classes meet primarily on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. To meet this goal the college maintains a program of grants, scholarships, loans and part-time employment for eligible students who are accepted and enrolled in a financial aid eligible certificate or degree. Students enrolled in programs not leading to a degree or certificate awarded by Howard Community College are not eligible for financial aid. Howard Community College awards financial aid in a manner that does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, ability/disability, color, gender, national origin, age, political opinion, sexual orientation, veteran status, or marital status. APPLICATION PROCEDURES Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to begin the application process. The FAFSA link is available on the HCC website at howardcc.edu. Select Admissions and click on the Pay for College option. In addition, students must be admitted to HCC and have a valid Social Security Number (SSN) on file with Admissions and Advising before HCC can receive the FAFSA results. Students seeking any type of financial aid are strongly urged to apply by the March 1 priority filing date. Financial aid files completed by March 1st will be given first priority for limited grant
