132 TEST CENTER Room RCF-359 (Academic Testing) 443-518-1280 Howard Community College's Test Center provides examinees with available, secure, accessible, and professional testing services and resources to enable participation in educational, career, and professional pursuits. The Test Center allows HCC students and other test takers to demonstrate knowledge, achieve certification, engage in professional development, enhance competencies, and partake in lifelong learning in an optimal testing environment. The Test Center administers academic, placement, and professional certification exams, including College- Level Examination ProgramĀ® (CLEP), DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST), and Certiport exams including Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS). The Test Center is an authorized Pearson VUE Testing Center. The Test Center is also an authorized testing site for Iso- Quality Testing and Castle Worldwide which provide various industry-based certification exams. Placement tests are administered on a walk-in basis, no appointment is necessary. Please consult our website at howardcc.edu/testcenter for up-to- date hours, special events, or closings. Please consult the college catalogue for placement testing policies. All calculators, pens, pencils, erasers, scrap paper, and any other supplies required for testing will be provided by the Test Center. No personal calculators may be used under any circumstances. The Test Center has a large array of calculators and testing supplies used in all HCC academic courses, including those for students with disabilities. All students must present a current school or government issued picture ID. All personal items must be placed in lockers including books, notes, pens, pencils, calculators, mobile telephones, electronic devices, listening and recording devices, purses, wallets, watches, and keys. Unless worn for religious or medical reasons, all hats and head coverings must be removed and stored in a locker. Regardless of the reason for headwear allowance, the tester's ears must be shown to a testing administrator in a private setting to ensure that no recording or listening devices are present. Proctoring fees for currently admitted and enrolled students are not assessed for HCC exams or placement tests, but are assessed for CLEP, DSST, and non- HCC exams. Fees are subject to change. Since there are different procedures for each type of examination, please contact the Test Center if you have any questions pertaining to any examination. HCC students registered for eLearning courses who are unable to come to campus for proctored assessments can request approval for an offsite or virtual proctor. If requesting off- site testing at a physical location, students must complete the off-site testing application, identify a National College Testing Association (NCTA) partner institution, and obtain permission from the eLearning examination coordinator at HCC. Students are responsible for any fees charged by off-site proctoring services used. Test Center services are available throughout the year. The Test Center's schedule is published each semester and is subject to change. For up-to-date information please visit the Test Center website at howardcc.edu/testcenter.
