As I reflect on the past year, I am proud of the work taking place at Howard Community College. Our faculty and staff are living up to their mission of providing pathways to success, and our Howard Community College Educational Foundation ensures students have the financial support they need to stay on those pathways. In her introductory letter, Dr. Kate Hetherington, president, shared the inspirational story of Stacie Tippett, who recently graduated, due in no small part to the Pathway Scholarship she received. While the Pathway Scholarship was launched through the generosity of Howard County government, our foundation still needs your support to match $500,000 of the county's investment to grow the Pathway Scholarship from $2.5 million to $3 million for our students. Stacie is evidence that the scholarship does make a difference! You also make a difference when you support our special fundraising events. We recently completed the HCC Columbia Classic Grand Prix, raising $45,000 for student scholarships. Thank you to George Doetsch, Jr. for hosting the event on his farm, and to Doetsch and Vic Broccolino for serving as co-chairs for the Grand Prix committee. This year marked the 28th and final year for the Grand Prix. The college has decided to bring this event to a close. Since the fundraiser was launched in 1988, it has raised over $3 million to help our students complete their education and move forward on their pathway to success. With our transition away from the Grand Prix, we will renew our focus on our very successful HCC 5K Challenge Race, the Silas Craft Collegians fundraiser at Hunan Manor, and Vino Scholastico. We look forward to your continued support of these events. All our events in fiscal year 2015 generated gross revenue of $361,903. This level of giving, combined with private gifts, employee contributions, and other support, led to the foundation reaching a fundraising total of $3.4 million in the fiscal year. During this same time period, endowments, grants, and donations made it possible for the foundation to provide more than $2.8 million in scholarships and program support to the college. Thanks to this 2015 Donor Report, I am afforded the opportunity to thank the foundation's volunteers and the many donors who contribute to the college and to our students. Through your generosity, HCC continues to educate the workforce of the future and contribute to the vibrant community that is Howard County, Maryland. Thank you for everything you do to support students today and the generations yet to come.
