Through HCC's online job board, HCC Job Connection, she found an internship opportunity with A&G Pharmaceuticals that led to part-time employment as a laboratory technician for assisting with the production of antibodies for health care research. Since then, Mena-Gonzales has transferred to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) where she is taking classes in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in biology. She will graduate in spring 2016. "The people in the career center were willing to go above and beyond to help me get to where I wanted to be," said Mena-Gonzalez. "I love working for a company where I am learning new things every day." Yet another success story in the career center's books is told by Mohammed Yamani Sisi, an Iranian man in his early 30s who enrolled in HCC's construction management program shortly after his family relocated to the U.S. He turned to the career center for help with developing a cover letter and fine tuning his resume to make it applicable to his intended career path. Sheri Hawes, co-op/ internship manager within the career center went the extra mile for Yamani Sisi, introducing him to the president of the Coston Company, which led to his placement as a company intern. Through that internship, he gained the experience he needed to later land his dream job.
