102 • Parking is limited to designated parking areas only; as it is impossible to mark all areas of the college where parking is prohibited. Lack of space is not considered a valid excuse for violation of these regulations. • Vehicles may park only in the areas to which they are assigned and must display the appropriate hang-tag permit, stickers, or dashboard temporary pass indicating authorization. Spaces designated by signs and blue, green or yellow lines may be used by persons with the proper hangtags, license plates, stickers or permits. Blue lines designate disabled spaces, green lines designate low emitting and fuel efficient vehicles and carpool parking, and yellow lines designate staff spaces. • Vehicle operators must notify the Public Safety office if they need to leave their vehicle or bicycle in the college's parking lot overnight. However, the college is not responsible for theft of or damage to the vehicle or to the contents of the vehicle. The fact that an operator parks a vehicle in violation of any regulation without receiving a citation, does not mean that the application regulation is no longer in effect. Motorcycles are permitted to park within a single space or in the designated "Motorcycle Only" parking area in the East and West Garages. All parking areas have red marked areas that are for motorcycle parking. Any vehicle or bicycle parked on campus 30 days or more or after hours in designated areas and lots, risks being towed at the owner or operator's expense. Vehicles parked in college parking lots after 1:00 a.m. without prior authorization from public safety, parked in fire zones, no-parking areas, or improperly parked in handicapped or reserved spaces, will be subject to towing at the owner's expense. Prior to having the vehicle towed, the college's public safety office will notify the duty officer of the Howard County police department by telephone. Within 10 says of the vehicle being towed, the college's public safety office will attempt to determine the owner and send a certified letter to the owner indicating when and where the vehicle was towed. To determine the owner, the college's public safety office will first check the college's records. If the owner is still undetermined, the college's public safety office will attempt to determine the owner through the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles. The public safety office will keep a record of all vehicles towed, which includes the date towed and the location where towed. Level 2 charging stations for electric vehicles are located on the second floor of the West garage. Level 2 means that the charging stations charge electric car batteries only. These chargers are for use by HCC students, faculty and staff. There is no cost to charge. The operator must use a "ChargePoint" card or mobile phone app. Verification is required using the operator's HCC email account. Operators should contact the college's facilities office for information and assistance. Charging stations are not parking spaces. The vehicle must be connected to the charger while in a charging station. Violators will be tickets or towed. Stations are available on a first-come, first- served basis. Charging time is limited to two hours. Operators must
