142 life. Students have the opportunity to meet college faculty and staff, as well as fellow students. Comprehensive in-person New Student Orientation programs are conducted prior to the fall and spring semesters. An online orientation is provided as a supplement to the in-person sessions and can be found at howardcc.edu/orientation. In addition to the general New Student Orientation, some programs may require orientation sessions. Additionally, specific workshops are offered by various departments throughout the entire semester for both new and returning students. PAYROLL OFFICE Room RCF-207A 443-518-1864 Fax 443-518-3102 Hourly and student employees are paid on the 15th and last day of each month. If the pay date falls on a weekend, the effective date of the payroll is the Friday before. Hours worked are entered through the online time entry system on myHCC. HCC uses electronic payment of wages, via either direct deposit (recommended) or Cash Pay bank cards. Any checks issued are mailed on payday. Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. PUBLIC SAFETY Room RCF-117 443-518-5500 Howard Community College's campus security officers are on duty 24 hours a day to respond to your call. If you need assistance, you can contact the security office at any time, day or night. During regular work day hours, any office staff person will be happy to place the call for you. Campus security officers are here to help. Don't hesitate to call on them if you need assistance. At times when offices may not be open there are red security phones located strategically around the campus. When using a security phone, stay on the line if it does not ring immediately, the call may be forwarded to a foot patrol officer with a mobile phone. ESCORT SERVICES The Public Safety office offers an escort service. You do not have to walk to your car alone. A college public safety officer may be reached by phone and is ready to escort you to your car. To contact the escort service, call x5500 or pick up one of the red security phones on campus. RECORDS, REGISTRATION & VETERANS' AFFAIRS (RRVA) Room RCF-233 443-518-1240 RRVA oversees registration services, issues enrollment verifications and transcripts, and oversees the posting of final grades. RRVA administers graduation and Commencement, including managing graduation applications, certifying and posting degrees, and issuing diplomas and certificates. Military services are available for members of the Maryland National Guard, veterans, active duty service members, reservists, and their dependents.
