TRASH Trash from Howard County gets exported to a landfill in King George County, VA. Wrappers and juice pouches cannot be recycled, but they can be terracycled! Check out terracycle.com Alkaline batteries can be thrown away, but all other batteries can be taken to Alpha Ridge Landfill by Plant Operations Pizza boxes are only trash because of the grease, otherwise cardboard is recyclable Incandescent bulbs are trash but CFLs should be taken to Home Depot, Lowe's, IKEA, or Alpha Ridge Landfill Styrofoam can be recycled at Alpha Ridge Residents' Convenience Center, or clean white styrofoam can be put in HCC's pilot program Napkins, tissues, and paper towels are not recyclable but they are compostable RECYCLE Producing goods from recycled material requires less energy than starting from scratch.
