Fees: $20 701 Study Abroad is course is attached to the China-Culture Study Abroad Program from May 22-June 5, 2018. Students have the opportunity to absorb Chinese culture, arts, history, and language. Participants will fly to Chengdu and Beijing with an HCC professor, and work with a team of Chinese professors including artists and language teachers. e experience involves academic course work, hands on experiences, and excursions to artists' studios/demonstrations, ancient artifact sites, museums, theatres, and galleries. Aer a month of preparation, students will stay for 13 days in Copenhagen, the capital city, experiencing the art and culture of Denmark as well as day trips to other areas of interest in Denmark. Note this study abroad program will involve a lot of walking. is course is restricted to participants of the 2018 Summer Study Abroad program. MATHEMATICS Elements of Mathematics Students with a placement score below the cut-off for MATH-061 are required to take at least one noncredit math course through the Division of Continuing Education. Depending on the placement exam score, students will begin in either Basic Math or Intermediate Math. In Basic Math, students will learn es - sential skills in whole number operations, solving word problems, interpreting data, and understanding algebraic thinking. In Intermediate Math, students will learn fundamental skills in operations of fractions, understanding real- world problems involving percentages, and interpreting and solving propor - tions. Students are required to take the mathematics placement exams through the Office of Admissions and Advising.
