Students have the opportunity to absorb Chinese culture, arts, history, and language. MATHEMATICS Elements of Mathematics Students with a placement score below the cut-off for MATH-061 are required to take at least one noncredit math course through the Division of Continuing Education. Depending on the placement exam score, students will begin in either Basic Math or Intermediate Math. In Basic Math, students will learn es - sential skills in whole number operations, solving word problems, interpreting data, and understanding algebraic thinking. In Intermediate Math, students will learn fundamental skills in operations of fractions, understanding real- world problems involving percentages, and interpreting and solving propor - tions.
