It is now an alternate career path for inpatient coders (historically, management has been the only choice) with three years of inpatient acute care coding experience within the last five years, who hold a current RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC credential, and can pass the Career Step Inpatient Auditing Skill Evaluation.
