Tue, Wed, Thu 6:30pm-9:30pm May 15-Jun 28 Jay Linn has been a teacher with the English Language Center for three years, and in that time, he has become an invaluable contributor to the program. Jay is, first and foremost, a wonderful teacher. His students love him. His packed classes always have a waiting list and his student evaluations are uniformly outstanding, describing him as "amazing," "energetic," "joyful," "dynamic," and "fun"—assessments his colleagues enthusiastically endorse. In addition, Jay is always here and ready to serve his students; he oen arrives at 7:30 a.m. to prepare for his lessons and stays until his last student leaves at 9:15 p.m. Jay is very concerned about his students and works hard to make sure they are accurately placed and moving toward their goals. In addition to being a powerhouse instructor, Jay is also a valuable contributor to the other work we do in the ELC. He worked hard and under deadline to help develop the curriculum for the Health Care Interpreters Program and proposed, then developed one of the most popular ELC Business English classes, How Americans ink. is successful class and curriculum led to an opportunity to represent HCC as a workshop facilitator for the leadership of the Seventh Day Adventists organization. Jay also does wonderful work behind the scenes. He regularly serves as an advisor during registration and he is a mentor for newly hired adjunct faculty. Overall, Jay is a great benefit to the ELC program. We are lucky to have him on our faculty! Each year, Howard Community College (HCC) presents Inspiring Faculty Awards to recognize and honor faculty who exemplify HCC's values of innovation, nurturing, sustainability, partnerships, integrity, respect, excellence, and service. They are exceptional teachers, with a recognized commitment to the intellectual and creative life of the college, and inspire others to high standards of excellence, civility, and professionalism. 2017-2018 Continuing Education Inspiring Faculty of the Year Jay Linn Adjunct Instructor, English Language Center
