History & Culture DNA Boot Camp DNA Boot Camp is a three-hour course allowing you practi- cal experience in using exercises to apply genetic genealogy principles. e course is recommended for both basic and advanced students who want to expand their knowledge with the practice of problem solving. You will be given exercises in various DNA scenarios and guided through problem solving strategies and answers. e course will provide instruction in analysis techniques and online tools. Completion of a DNA test with a DNA testing company is recommended. Instructor Andy Hochreiter is an experienced genetic genealogist who manages DNA surname projects, attends frequent professional genetic genealogy courses and confer - ences, and has successfully applied genetics to trace several related family branches overseas. Water is essential, but too much or too little can damage your crops. Weeds can tell you a lot about your garden and can also out-compete your crops. In this class, you will observe and analyze trends of water and weeds in the garden and use this information to strategize for a successful gardening season. You will review the range of techniques growers can use to ensure a well-watered and weed-free garden. Also, you will look at specific tools that you can use to irrigate and weed your garden. Finally, you will learn how to setup a precise time and water saving system popular by growers of all scales around the world: drip irrigation. Pests and diseases oen cause stress for the gardener and are cited as the reason for a multi-billion dollar industry of poisons in the world. You will discuss how to view pests and dis- eases in your garden as signs by nature of deeper problems, and how to prevent them in the future. For those situations where the problem needs a short-term solution, you will review organically-approved methods for reducing the damage done to your crops.
