Depending on the placement exam score, students will begin in either Basic Math or Intermediate Math. In Basic Math, students will learn es- sential skills in whole number operations, solving word problems, interpreting data, and understanding algebraic thinking. In Intermediate Math, students will learn fundamental skills in operations of fractions, understanding real- world problems involving percentages, and interpreting and solving propor- tions. Students are required to take the mathematics placement exams through the Office of Admissions and Advising.
