howardcc.edu/ConEd 443-518-1700 Fall 2018 29 Health Care Patient Care Introduction to Dental Assisting and Radiology You'll have entry-level dental assisting job skills with CPR certification (valid for two years) when you successfully complete this noncredit program, approved by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners. Topics include dental ter- minology and anatomy, concepts of four-handed dentistry, instrumentation, causes and treatment of common dental diseases, CPR certification, and at least 24 hours of dental radiology instruction as required by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) for eligibility to sit for the DANB Radiology Health and Safety (RHS) certification exam. Prerequisites: Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma/ GED; ability to speak and understand standard American English. CPR certification, handouts, materials, dental equipment and practice lab, textbooks, DANB (RHS) exam review and practice test, as well as DANB exam application fee are included in tuition/fees cost. Employment of CT and MRI technologists is projected to increase by 28% by 2020, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Become a certified Computed Tomography (CT) or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist. This program is for diagnostic technologists who are interested in becoming more competitive in the workforce by enhancing their credentials. To earn a Certificate of Completion, you must fulfill the required number of classwork and clinical hours (eight to 15 months) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
