The mission of Student Life is to provide a comprehensive array of programs and events outside of the classroom that will enrich the collegiate experience. Involvement in student activities, either as a planner or as a participant, offers each student an opportunity for personal growth in leadership, social activities and co-curricular programs. Student Life also provides many special services to students such as discount tickets to AMC movie theaters, amusement parks, and VIP passes to the National Aquarium in Baltimore and the Maryland Science Center. The office also sponsors a variety of field trips throughout the year. STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION Room SA-201B 443-518-4573 The Student Government Association is designed to provide a vehicle for student involvement in the administration, legislation and judicial governance of the college. Student representatives serve on a variety of college committees, with members of college faculty and staff, in an effort to ensure that the student perspective is heard. The SGA also participates in dispersing student funding, shaping policies, forming student regulations, and governing student organizations. SGA opportunities include serving as officers, volunteering as student representatives to college committees and helping to organize special events. STUDENT PROGRAM BOARD Room SA-201E 443-518-4845 The SPB is responsible for selecting, planning, and implementing diverse programs and activities for all students. Activities include, but are not limited to, dances, concerts, lectures, and cultural arts. Volunteers are needed to assist with set-ups, decorating, advertising and promotion, staffing and much more. HCC TIMES Room SA-201C 443-518-4937 Published once per month, the HCC Times serves as the student voice on news and issues, and provides the opportunity for students to see their creative efforts in print. Students may earn college credit for work on this publication (see Counseling and Career Services).
