106 HCC LOGIN ID AND PASSWORD Use your HCC Login ID and password to access myHCC, HCC email, campus computers, Canvas, Google Drive and the HCC wireless network. Your HCC Login ID consists of the first initial of your first name + the first 7 digits of your last name + the last 4 digits of your student ID number. For example, if your name is Art Vandelay and your Student ID number is 1234567, then your HCC Login ID is avandela4567. Password Services, available by visiting howardcc.edu/Password Services, allows students to initially set up and manage their HCC login credentials, and re-set forgotten and expired passwords. On a campus computer, once you are logged in, you will not need to enter login credentials for myHCC, email, Canvas and Google Drive. You will have access to your college accounts as long as you are currently enrolled in HCC courses. For your safety, do not disclose your student ID number and Login ID except when conducting college business with authorized staff. Always log off or shut down and restart the computer when you are finished working on any public computer, including campus computers, to sever the connection to your personal accounts. myHCC MyHCC is the center of your digital life at Howard Community College! Use it as the starting point for many online services. After logging into myHCC with your HCC Login ID and password, you can view college calendars and announcements, check email, get to your Canvas courses, and use these and other HCC Express services: • Register for, add, drop, or withdraw from classes. • Pay your bill. • See your drop, refund and withdrawal deadlines. • Order a transcript. • View class schedules, grades, advising assignments, financial aid and scholarship status, and academic course history. STUDENT EMAIL The College recognizes email as the official method for communication with students. Students are expected to act upon all official communications received at their college email address. Get your email through myHCC, or visit https://owa.howardcc.edu. If prompted, login using your HCC Login ID and password. Check your email regularly, delete messages that you no longer need, and empty the Deleted Items folder to ensure you will be able to continue sending and receiving college email. Your HCC student email address is yourfirstname.yourlastname@howardcc. edu. Your instructor's email address is firstinitiallastname@howardcc.edu. CANVAS AND ONLINE COURSES HCC's learning management system, Canvas, is the primary application used to deliver students online and hybrid courses. A majority of your instructors also use it to enhance their campus courses with supplemental materials, quizzes, and class activities. Access to Canvas is provided through myHCC or by clicking the Tools and Resources button on howardcc.edu and logging in with your HCC Login ID and password.
